I’m a forensic investigator, serial entrepreneur, founder, community builder, speaker and advocate. But those titles only tell part of the story. What connects everything I do is a willingness to question what is expected, follow my instincts and build the things I believe should exist.
WHO I AM
Built from curiousity, conviction and a refusal to stay in one lane.
I am a forensic fire and explosion investigator, serial entrepreneur, founder and community builder based in Sydney, Australia. For more than a decade, I have built a career in forensic investigation while also creating businesses, communities and initiatives that sit far outside the traditional boundaries of that profession.
I have never believed that we need to choose one version of ourselves to be taken seriously. Technical expertise can sit beside creativity. Business can sit beside community. Ambition can sit beside motherhood. Pride in where you come from can exist alongside questioning the expectations you inherited.
The different parts of my life do not compete with each other. They are what make the work mine.
MY STORY
The path was never particularly linear.
I grew up in Western Sydney in a Sri Lankan Eelam Tamil family. My parents migrated to Australia after escaping the civil war in Sri Lanka, carrying with them a deep belief in stability, education and creating a safer life for the next generation. I understood where those expectations came from, but I also knew I was never going to build my life by simply following the path laid out for me.
I made mistakes, took risks and often chose the option that made less sense to everyone else. Over time, those experiences taught me one of the most important lessons of my life: how to trust myself. That instinct led me into forensic science, then into a career in fire investigation, and eventually into building my own forensic consultancy.
Alongside my professional career, I kept noticing spaces that were missing. In 2018, I created Brown Boss Babes because I wanted a space for South Asian women to connect, grow and feel seen. That grew into broader community work, advocacy and initiatives supporting different parts of the South Asian community.
For a long time, I thought I had to make all the different parts of my life fit neatly into one identity. Eventually, I stopped trying. I could be a forensic investigator and a community builder. A founder and a mother. Ambitious and deeply connected to culture. Proud of where I come from while still questioning the expectations I inherited.
Today, everything I do is connected by the same idea: if I see something missing, I want to build it. If something does not make sense, I want to question it. And if the path in front of me does not feel like mine, I am willing to create another one.
My story is not about having everything figured out. It is about learning to back myself enough to build a life that feels like my own.

Choosing an unconventional career
What began with an interest in forensic science became a highly specialised career in fire and explosion investigation built through years of technical work, field experience and expert analysis.
Building beyond the job title
Alongside my forensic career, I began creating community spaces and exploring entrepreneurship because there were gaps around me that I could not ignore.
Backing myself
Eventually, I stepped away from the certainty of traditional employment to build my own forensic consultancy and take greater ownership of the career and life I wanted.
Creating the things I wished existed
From businesses to national community initiatives, much of what I have built began with the same question: if this is missing, why can’t I be the person who creates it?
